Lord of the Rings Online.

So it's free to play now.
It's similar to the DDO free to play, as in not all content is available for free users, but the content that is available is so massive, it doesn't really matter.
I definitely recommend this game to any MMO fans.
Only download this if interested, though, as the standard graphics version is a 7gb download and the high res one was about 3gb more.
I'm playing on the world Brandywine.

  4. I played DDO for about 4 months last year. It was pretty fun, and as advertised, it was free. Even all of the pay-to-play content could be unlocked through points you accrue in game doing various things. The downside, though, is that what at first looked like a ton of free content actually turned out to be, well, 4 months' worth of playtime. Still, this looks like it's worth checking into.

From one nerd to another, this looks like an interesting blog. Followed and supporting.
